About the Author

My journey towards becoming a writer has been a long one, along a path with many forks in the road. I have always loved to read and write. In fact, it was reading The Bobbsey Twin books that first offered me an escape from the chaotic childhood of living in a family of seven. (Ironic that I had two sets of twins!) I started writing for myself in my teens with poetry giving voice to my deepest fears and emotions. I have to admit, that even now, poetry is my “go to” genre whenever I need to get a feeling out.

I have spent the past 25 years in education. Most of those years were spent teaching sixth graders in a middle school. They were some of the happiest years of my life. During that time, I wrote a lot, but it was to create models, to help teach my students the writing process. Rarely for myself.

I retired in June of 2019. It was as I floundered, trying to fill a limitless void in my life, that I stumbled upon the idea for a children’s book. I am so thankful that the idea for The Lost Coin presented itself to me on a deary fall day. Writing these stories has given me a renewed purpose in life and something to be excited about every day.

I hope you enjoy the stories.
